THE ROTARY CLUB OF TAVEUNI EYE PROJECT JUNE 2023 # 15

The Rotary Club of Taveuni, in association with our Rotary partners in Australia, New Zealand and the U.S., are proud to announce the completion of the world-famous Rotary Eye Project in June 2023. We acknowledge the cooperation of the Fijian Government. The project commenced on Monday 12th June 2023.

On this, the fifteenth annual eye project, we are limiting access to the project to those living on the island of Taveuni and to those patients who can get to Taveuni hospital without relying on Rotary to provide transport. Why? Funds are increasingly difficult to access, and the club felt the limited funds were best spent on looking after the patients while they were on the island.

Each day reports and pictures will be available to view by clicking HERE

We are thrilled that the team of surgeons, ophthalmic nurses and general practitioners attending has been confirmed and include:

International Doctors:

  • Dr Grace Richter – Ophthalmic Surgeon
  • Dr Greg Booth – GP
  • Dr Bryce Loder -GP
  • Dr David Pendergrast – Ophthalmic Surgeon
  • Dr Damien Rodger – Retina Specialist
  • Dr Federico Rupil – Ophthalmic Surgeon

Local Doctors:

  • Dr Yunga Enebish (from Labasa Hospital) – Ophthalmic Surgeon

We are always in need of financial help. This mighty project involves providing transport and meals for hundreds of Fijians as they move to Taveuni from other nearby islands for their surgery. We raise money wherever we can, but YOU can help. We want you to feel that your donation is meaningful and that it is all spent on our project.
